Direction teardowns

SaaS direction teardowns.

Examine a possible micro SaaS direction through App Store evidence. These notes separate our hypotheses from developer claims and record whether each hypothesis survived the source check. The first published result was rejected; the open questions remain unvalidated.

The photo-to-estimate desk gap did not survive the listings

High-attention products already promise approvals, e-signatures, share links and, in some cases, browser or desktop access. The original wedge was contradicted before user research. The useful outcome is a negative result, not a smaller build brief.

Open questions after initial source analysis

As of 28 October 2026, ten scanning and twelve habit descriptions have been analyzed with AI assistance. These initial samples narrow the questions below; neither direction has been validated or rejected. Sample scope and remaining work.

Another document scanner

Initial finding: selected descriptions already advertise PDF editing, signatures or export. Hypothesis: a specific role’s document intake, completeness checks and delivery might still merit comparison. That workflow has not been tested with buyers, and the sample does not prove a gap.

A habit tracker with a nicer interface

Initial finding: the sample spans check-ins, fixed challenges, games and specialist workflows. Hypothesis: a cohort organizer’s assignments, missed-task reasons and group review may be worth comparing with existing tools. Neither user behavior nor willingness to pay has been established.

Before you build

A rejection is a result.

Ratings in a store are not demand, and a workflow gap visible from the outside may be absent from the inside. The first direction failed that check. Publishing the failure keeps the research record from turning into a portfolio of attractive ideas.
